"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." - Pablo Picasso

It wasn't until she became a mother that her work shifted into new territory. What began as a way to commemorate and preserve her young son and daughter’s childhood memories soon blossomed into a reflection of her own childhood experiences. How drastically the world has changed, how her own memories of lucky rabbit foot keychains, wave pools, cigarette gum, and real fox fur shawls compete with her daughter's love of all things pink and her son's shark obsession.

Her work draws inspiration from the pretend worlds we all create, and how we eventually learn that everything is not as it seems.

Jessica's love of vintage wallpaper serves as a background layer for her psychological exploration of one's inner child. She uses this creation as a vehicle to tell a story that brings our imaginations to life. Her children's, hers, yours.

In this way, she is painting what she sees and what she remembers.
